Imitiaz Ali's Rockstar Movie Review : 2.5 Out of 5 Stars,
Film: Rockstar

On the whole, ROCKSTAR does not live up to the confidence and expectations from the otherwise very skilled and accomplished film - maker Imtiaz Ali. The film suffers immensely due to a disorderly screenplay, especially in its post - interval portions.
The film is a milestone in Ranbir Kapoor's career as an actor and a classic cut from the AR Rahman and Mohit Chauhan combo. Shammi Kapoor's presence as the classical artist enhances the gravitas of the film.
Rockstar aspires to be a modern - day epic. While not an entirely wholesome experience, Rockstar does have plenty of moments worth savouring. You might want to sample this, minus expectations, and especially for Ranbir's performance.
If only Imtiaz had curtailed his obsession and let some scenes go, ROCKSTAR could have achieved cult status like ROCK ON. The ratings are strictly for Ranbir and AR Rahman's music.
Imitiaz Ali does try to make that lasting impact movie but Nargis just spoils the fun. But people who love music will love this extraordinary journey of a musician, and even if you don't you will fall for Ranbir or Rahman or both.
All in all with a heavy heart it has to be admitted that this hasn't really been a year for nurturing high expectations from movies. Rockstar with its catchy music and mouth - watering promos proves to be a sorry consolation for a good film.
Over all, Rockstar may not be one of the finest attempts but is definitely worth a watch for its pleasing first half and the ace performance of Ranbir Kapoor.
Heer is the diva of the college, poised and polished very lady like. Their union seems unfeasible. After a few scenes, we learn that she is to be married off within 20 days and wants to experience all that is forbidden.
The duo makes a list and experience life without emotions for each other. In due course, JJ is christened Jordan, which seems to be an apt name for a rockstar.
As the mystery unfolds over layers of flashbacks, it takes the story to a designated plateau and halts.
At stages, you feel you are watching a documentary, full of montages of memories lined up over good music. Be it Sufi music or the shehnai-guitar jugalbandi, A.R. Rahman's music touches your heart.
