Current affairs cable show expands into West Hartford, The Regans, originally from West Hartford, started the show a few years ago after Bill volunteered to videotape meetings of Granby boards.
“A couple of years ago, the Town had a referendum vote on the Granby budget and Bill said they needed someone to interface with the selectmen and keep a shape to the show while votes were counted,” said Susan. “I have a background in corporate international marketing, and public relations, so I did it.”
From those beginnings, the weekly half-hour show has developed two formats: an in-depth interview with newsmakers including political candidates and advocates for issues ranging from child trafficking and domestic abuse to current public policy issues, and on-the-road episodes featuring visits to destinations such as the Hill-Stead and the New England Air Museums.
“I thought if residents had a more in-depth view of the municipal leaders and their respective posts, they might have a better understanding of how the town operates,” said Patricelli-Regan. “So I started some interviews, and it branched out from there. We want to make people aware of events and places to visit, in addition to serious interviews in the studio. I have interviewed people from candidates for governor on down. If President Obama ever comes to Connecticut, I would contact his press people for an interview.”
Patricelli-Regan said she tries to give viewers a 360 look at current issues, beyond the sound-bite coverage that is typical elsewhere.
“I can usually get my guests to be pretty candid,” she said. “We do not have interruptions and in doing so, I try to get them to be as candid as possible. I don’t skew the questions, but try to give the guest a platform from which to speak.
