India's hope of winning the Miss World title for the sixth time came crashing down on Sunday evening as Miss India World Kanishtha Dhankhar failed to make it to the Top 15 qualifying for the semifinals.
The Mumbai-based model has walked the ramp for designers like Rohit Bal and Sabyasachi Mukherjee.Model-turned actress Priyanka Chopra was the last Indian model to win the title in 2000.
Title went to Indian girl Kanishtha Dhanhar. She won Femina Miss India World on October, 2010 and she will compete in Miss World 2011. She won five subtitles in the pageant i.e. miss catwalk, beauty with a purpose, girl with a golden heart, best skin, natural beauty, the maximum number of subtitles anyone won in the pageant history.
22 year old Kanishtha Dhankar was crowned Pantaloon Miss India 2011 contest held in Mumbai
Student of H.R. College in Mumbai, Kanishtha Dhankhar is a model by profession. Her height is 5’ 9.5”, weighing 55 kgs with Vital statistics of 32- 25- 36. Kanishtha had earlier won the Pantaloon Femina Miss Body Beautiful award.
Before leaving for the festival, she said, “I am very nervous but excited at the same time. I had many plans for this year but not even in my wildest dreams had I thought that I will be walking the Cannes red carpet. I feel lucky and blessed,” she said.
The finalists for the PFMI were judged by Kangna Ranaut, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Ritu Kumar, Shiamak Davar, Leander Paes, Tarun Mansukhani and Sajid Nadiadwala. The other winners of the paegent are 22 year old Hasleen Kaur who is Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2011. She was crowned by Femina Miss India Earth 2010, Nicole Faria who is also the reigning Miss Earth 2010. Pantaloons Femina Miss India International 2011 was awarded to 24 year old Ankita Shorey .
